Digital consultancy website design

The design brief. A digital consultancy working across brand strategy, mobile platforms and technical consulting for clients in several industries. The problem with consultancy sites is abstraction — the service is thinking, which cannot be photographed, so most end up as a wall of adjectives.

Candid photography over stock. The hero shows three people sitting on outdoor steps with a laptop, shot from a distance, mid-conversation. Not a posed boardroom, not a handshake. The informality suggests how the consultancy actually works, and the distance in the shot makes it feel observed rather than staged — which is precisely what separates it from the stock imagery every competitor uses.

The overlapping statement bar. A teal panel carrying the firm's purpose sits half over the hero photograph and half below it, breaking the boundary between the two sections. That overlap is a small structural decision that does a lot: it stops the page reading as a stack of separate bands, and it forces the eye across the join rather than letting it stop at the edge of the image.

A named face for the about section. The introduction pairs a circular portrait with a first-person statement and a watch-video control. Consultancy is sold by individuals rather than logos, and putting a person and a name at the top of the about section converts far better than a corporate history.

Three-service structure with an escape hatch. Brand strategy, mobile platforms and technical consulting sit as three cards, with a fourth teal panel beside them for visitors whose problem does not fit any of the three. That fourth block is the useful one — consultancy enquiries rarely arrive shaped like a service list, and giving them somewhere to go prevents a good lead bouncing.

The illustrated industries band. Below, flat colour panels in mint, blue and yellow carry loose illustrations, with an industry tab bar beneath. Switching from photography to illustration marks a change in register — from who we are to what we do — and gives a page of otherwise similar content a clear second act.
