Web development for businesses across Canada
We are based in North York, Toronto, but development work travels better than most trades. Since 2006 we have built custom applications for companies in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Halifax without ever sharing an office with them. The requirements conversation happens on a call, the code lives in a repository you can see into, and you review working software in a browser rather than a slide deck.
What changes when a client is three time zones away is the rhythm, not the quality. We put the deep discussions early in your working day, keep a written decision log so nothing depends on anyone remembering a phone call, and demonstrate at the end of every stage instead of saving it all for launch.
There are also things a Canadian build has to get right that an overseas developer will not raise unprompted: personal data handled under PIPEDA, and under Quebec’s Law 25 if you have customers there; payment processing that settles in Canadian dollars without surprising your accountant; and bilingual content structured properly rather than bolted on. If you are looking for a web development company in Canada that already works this way, the distance is not the obstacle it sounds like.
Web Development in Toronto — Frequently Asked Questions
Cost, timelines, technology, ownership and support — the questions Toronto business owners ask us before starting a development project.
How much does web development cost in Toronto?
It depends on what the site has to do. A straightforward business website sits at the lower end; a custom web application, a booking system or an integration with software you already run costs more, because more of it is built rather than configured. We quote a fixed price in writing before any work starts, so the number you agree is the number you pay. Our packages page shows what is included at each level.
How long does web development take?
Three to five weeks for a straightforward business website, from approval to launch. Custom web applications and ecommerce builds take longer — usually two to four months depending on scope. The biggest variable is almost always how quickly content and approvals come back to us. Projects that run late nearly always run late on content, not code.
What is the difference between web design and web development?
Design is what the site looks like and how it is laid out. Development is the code underneath — the pages, the database, the forms, the payment handling, the integrations. Most projects need both, and we do both in-house, so you are not managing a designer and a developer who blame each other. See custom web design if design is what you are after.
Do you build custom code, or use WordPress and Joomla?
Both, and we pick based on the job rather than on what we prefer. Joomla and WordPress make sense when you want to manage content yourself and the requirements are well covered by an established platform. Custom PHP, React and Node make sense when the thing you need does not exist off the shelf. We will tell you honestly which one your project needs — including when the cheaper option is the right one.
Can you build a web application, not just a website?
Yes. Client portals, booking and scheduling systems, dashboards, quoting tools, inventory and internal systems that replace spreadsheets. If it runs in a browser and it is specific to how your business works, that is web application development, and it is a large part of what we do.
Will I own the code when the project is finished?
Completely. The code, the design, the domain and the hosting account are all yours. There is no proprietary platform holding you in place — if you ever move to another developer, everything goes with you. That is not true of every web development company in Toronto, so it is worth asking whoever else you are speaking to.
What technologies do you develop with?
PHP, JavaScript, React and Node for custom builds; Joomla and WordPress for content-managed sites; Shopify and WooCommerce for ecommerce; MySQL and REST APIs for anything that has to talk to other systems. We also build iOS and Android apps — see mobile app development.
Can you take over a project another developer started?
Yes, and it is often the cheaper answer. We take on half-finished builds, sites that need rescuing, speed work and security clean-ups on code we did not write. We will review what exists and tell you honestly whether it is worth continuing or worth rebuilding — sometimes it genuinely is the second one. See website updates.
Do you work with businesses outside Toronto?
Yes. We are based in North York and work across Toronto, the GTA and all of Ontario, and we have built for clients across Canada. Development projects run perfectly well over calls, email and screen sharing, and we can meet in person when a project benefits from it.
What happens after the website launches?
We stay on — updates, backups, security patches, fixes and new features as the business grows. Most of our clients have been with us for years. See website maintenance, or read the full FAQ for questions about pricing, process and SEO.
Is SEO included in web development?
The technical foundation is, always: clean heading structure, proper page titles and descriptions, fast loading, a canonical setup and an XML sitemap Google can read. That makes the site eligible to rank. Competing for a term like web development Toronto takes ongoing content and link work, which is a separate service — see SEO.
How do I get a quote for a web development project?
Tell us what you are trying to build and we will tell you honestly what it takes. Call (647) 385-5532 or use the contact form. We come back within one business day, and there is no obligation.
