Fashion and clothing ecommerce website design

The design brief. A clothing store built around self-expression and storytelling rather than pure transaction, selling seasonal collections to a young audience. Fashion retail online is dominated by clean minimal templates, and blending in is commercially fatal when the product is personality.

The two-colour hero. We split the opening screen into a deep raspberry panel carrying the headline and a saturated yellow panel carrying the photography. Two strong flat colours, hard edge between them, no gradient. Most fashion sites open with a full-bleed photograph and white text; a hard colour split is louder, more graphic and far more memorable in a category where every competitor looks the same at thumbnail size.

Cropping the photograph. The hero image shows a coat sleeve and a hand — not a full outfit, not a face. Cropping tight on texture and detail is a deliberate editorial move borrowed from fashion magazines. It creates intrigue rather than delivering the whole garment immediately, and it puts the emphasis on fabric and colour, which is what actually sells clothing at this level.

The star motifs. Small four-pointed sparkles and a large starburst are scattered across the layout in white and burnt orange. They serve a specific structural purpose: the page is built from large flat colour blocks, and without small graphic incidents the composition would feel heavy and static. The stars break the mass, add movement, and give the brand an ownable visual signature that can be reused across social media and packaging.

Collection presentation. The seasonal collection runs as three portrait images edge to edge with no gaps between them. Removing the gutters turns three separate photographs into a single continuous band, which reads as a curated editorial spread rather than a product grid. The browse all control beneath is a small outlined pill, kept quiet so it never competes with the imagery.

Warm neutral base. Between the colour blocks, sections sit on a warm cream rather than white. That choice keeps the raspberry and yellow from feeling harsh, and gives the whole page a slightly analogue, printed quality that suits a brand built on individuality and second-hand style.

Typography. A heavy grotesque for headlines set very large, with small light body copy beneath. The extreme contrast in weight and size is doing the styling; there is no decorative typeface anywhere. In fashion, restrained type against loud colour is what separates considered design from a template with the colours changed.
