Business advisory website design

The design brief. A corporate consultancy site covering strategy, operations and long-term growth advisory. The category's problem is sameness — blue palettes, handshake photography, and language so generic it could belong to any firm in any country. The design's job was to look specific in a field that reliably looks interchangeable.

The asymmetric hero. Black on the left carrying the headline, a photograph of a team on the right under a heavy blue duotone, with a hard vertical edge between them at roughly a third of the width. The imbalance is the point: a centred hero with text over a full-width image is the default, and defaults are invisible. An off-centre split creates tension and makes the page feel composed rather than assembled.

Electric blue as the single accent. One saturated blue is used throughout — in the photograph's duotone, in the diagonal stripe block, in the pull-quote panel, in the buttons. Everything else is black, white or grey. Consulting sites usually deploy a corporate navy across large areas, which reads as safe and forgettable. Confining a much brighter blue to small deliberate moments makes it a signature instead of a background, and it means every element carrying that colour is automatically read as important.

The diagonal stripe block. A small panel of blue diagonal hatching sits beneath the hero beside the introductory copy. It is pure geometry with no informational content, and it exists to break the rectangular grid and add energy to a page that is otherwise built entirely from straight edges. The same device recurs lower down as a field of halftone dots.

Four-point credibility grid. Track record, tailored solutions, expert team, long-term impact — each with a thin line icon, a heading and two lines of copy, arranged as a simple two-by-two. Plain, unstyled, no cards or shadows. These are the four things a business checks before appointing a consultancy, and presenting them without decoration signals confidence in the substance.

The vertical pull-quote. A blue panel carrying a statement about growth and innovation, set in a tall narrow column rather than across the width. Narrow measure forces the eye down instead of across and gives the statement the feel of a printed pull-quote. It also solves a layout problem elegantly, filling a vertical gap beside the imagery that would otherwise have been empty.

Returning to black. The services section drops back to a black background with a video thumbnail beside it. Alternating black and white full-width sections gives the page a strong rhythm as the visitor scrolls, and it means each section arrives as a distinct chapter rather than a continuous scroll of similar blocks.
