One Care Medical and Children's Clinic is a walk-in and family practice in Scarborough, Ontario, with a paediatric clinic and paediatric specialty clinics alongside general family medicine.

The design problem. Medical clinic website design is nearly always arranged around how the practice is organised rather than around why someone is visiting. But almost every visitor arrives with an immediate need and very little patience: is it open, can I walk in, do you see children, where are you. A site that answers those behind three clicks has failed regardless of how it looks.

How we designed it. Those four answers sit above the fold. Services are then split clearly — family practice and walk-in, paediatric clinic, paediatric specialty clinics — because a parent looking for a children's doctor and an adult wanting a walk-in appointment should never have to work out which category they fall into.

Staying current. Seasonal notices such as flu shot availability are managed by the clinic directly, so time-sensitive health information goes live the day it matters. Everything is built mobile-first, since a walk-in clinic search is almost always made on a phone, often while already on the way.
