Ecommerce and product review website design

The design brief. A deals and product review site combining editorial reviews with affiliate commerce — a hybrid that has to earn trust as a publisher while converting as a shop.

The deal-of-the-day panel. A featured product sits in a large card with its price, a discount badge and a live countdown showing days, hours, minutes and seconds remaining. The countdown is doing real work here rather than manufacturing false pressure: on a deals site the offers genuinely do expire, and a visible timer is the honest way to communicate that while creating the urgency the business model depends on.

Separating reviews from deals. The page is structured in two distinct halves — deals and promotional banners at the top, editorial reviews beneath under their own heading with author names and dates. Keeping them visually separate is what protects the site's credibility. A review that looks like an advertisement persuades nobody, and the whole proposition rests on readers believing the recommendations are considered.

Bylines and dates. Every review carries an author name and publication date. On a review site those two details are the difference between editorial and marketing copy, and their absence is the first thing a sceptical reader notices.

Category banners. Horizontal promotional tiles for seasonal events sit between sections. Retail is seasonal and these slots let the site respond to Black Friday or Mother's Day without redesigning anything, which matters when the commercial calendar moves every few weeks.

Palette. Purple and white with orange used only on prices and calls to action. Confining the accent to commercial elements means every price and every button is instantly findable, while the editorial content stays visually calm and readable — the balance the whole hybrid model depends on.
