Architecture and interior website design

The design brief. A portfolio-led site for an interior design and architecture practice, where the work has to sell itself and the interface must not intrude on it.

Going dark. We built the whole site on a near-black background. Architectural photography is largely pale — concrete, plaster, glass, daylight — and on white those images bleed into the page. Against black each one reads as a framed print on a gallery wall. It is the single decision that does the most work here.

Typography and space. The headline sits in a solid dark panel overlaid on full-bleed photography, so text stays legible without a gradient scrim muddying the image beneath. A thin rule and a slide counter in the corner tell the visitor there is more to see without a carousel arrow cluttering the frame.

Project presentation. Featured work runs as a horizontal filmstrip with each project named beneath its thumbnail. Named projects read as a real body of work; unlabelled thumbnails read as stock. A single burnt-orange accent carries every call to action, so the only colour on the page is always the thing to click.
