Digital marketing agency website design

The design brief. A site for a social and digital agency offering brand consultancy and design direction. Agency sites are judged on whether the agency can evidently design, so the work had to be visibly opinionated rather than safe.

Colour as the whole strategy. The page runs through hot pink, deep indigo, violet and burnt orange in full-width bands, one after another. There is no neutral background anywhere. This is an aggressive choice and a deliberate one: an agency selling creative direction cannot present itself in white with grey type, because the site is the portfolio piece the visitor evaluates first. The palette is the argument.

The overlapping hero. A photograph of two people laughing sits behind the headline, with a solid indigo band overlapping the lower portion of the image and the type crossing the boundary between them. Letting text and colour blocks break across the photograph's edge creates depth and stops the hero reading as a stock banner with words on top.

Service tiles in the hero. Two services — brand consultancy and design direction — sit in a violet panel to the right of the hero with simple line icons. Placing offerings inside the first screen rather than further down means a visitor knows what the agency actually sells before scrolling, which matters because agency naming conventions rarely make it obvious.

The broken-column illustration. A photographic collage of a toppling classical column inside a white frame sits beside the got stuck section. It is surreal, slightly art-school, and entirely intentional. A stock photograph of a team at a whiteboard would have said nothing; a collage says the agency makes images rather than buying them. For a creative business, that distinction is the sales pitch.

The numbered service list. Services run as a numbered list with thin rules separating each row and secondary detail ranged to the right in small type. It reads like a contents page or an index. That structure suits an agency: it implies a defined process and a body of capability, and it scans far faster than a grid of cards.

Typographic contrast. Headings are set large and heavy in colours pulled from the adjacent bands, with very small light body copy beneath. The size relationship is extreme by ordinary standards, which is exactly right here — the confidence of the type is doing as much work as the words, and a more moderate hierarchy would have made the whole thing look tentative.
