Travel and tour booking website design

The design brief. A travel site selling both hotel stays and tour packages, needing to inspire and to take bookings on the same screen.

The booking bar. We placed the search form directly over the hero photograph — destination, dates, rooms and guests, all inline, with a hotel-or-package toggle above it. Travel sites routinely make visitors scroll past a beautiful photograph to find a search box. Overlaying it means the aspiration and the transaction occupy the same moment, which is exactly when intent is highest.

Category design. Below, we built an offset mosaic where photographic tiles interlock with solid colour label tiles — Wildlife & Nature, Luxury Holidays, Adventure & Sport. A conventional grid of captioned images would be quieter and duller. Staggering the tiles at different heights makes the section feel like a scrapbook, which is closer to how people daydream about travel.

Palette. Deep forest green with lime accents, chosen against the blues every travel brand defaults to. The green pushes the imagery forward and lets the search button hold the only high-contrast colour on the screen.
